The Cheektowaga Police Department continues to search for three of the four suspects who robbed the M&T Bank in Airport Plaza on Union Road last week.

Capt. James Speyer said police are continuing to process evidence and looking into the identities of the three suspects who remain at large.

Police arrested Daequan K. Hardy, 19, of Beach Road, Cheektowaga soon after the robbery on Aug. 25 after Officer Garrett Slawatycki chased down the suspect on foot.

“That was a real nice arrest,” Speyer said. “This guy is fresh out of the academy, and he ran through those back streets in Buffalo until he caught the suspect.”

Hardy was charged with two counts of second-degree robbery, second-degree grand larceny, second-degree criminal use of a firearm, fourth-degree conspiracy and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

The four bank robbers entered the M&T branch around 10 a.m. with handguns and walked out with bags of cash. Police said the take was about $51,000, but that a little more than $30,000 was recovered that day.
