Nothing good happens after 2 a.m.

With all the media attention and public concern about a 4 a.m. closing time [for bars], I believe an earlier shutdown of alcoholic beverages is needed.

Why do they shut down the flow of beer early at a Bills game? Because people can’t control themselves.

A 2 a.m. shutdown of serving drinks in the county would save taxpayers money and lives. Let the bars stay open till 4 a.m., so people can sober up and maybe get something to eat. Just stop serving at 2 a.m.

Nothing good happens after 2 a.m. anyway. Only the drunk get more intoxicated. The recent arrests of high-level DWI cases proves this. The young females make poor choices about who they are going home with. The young males become braver, also making poor choices.

The idea that the roads are safer at 4 a.m. because less traffic “allows” the drunk to get home is absurd.

The cost to municipalities to police the bars is only increased every hour they stay open and serve alcohol. Lets start taking a real approach to curbing alcoholism and DWI. Change the laws in Erie County.
