Once the Freshman Thunderbirds shook off their season opening jitters, which included a lost fumble on the opening kickoff and subsequent touchdown on the first play from scrimmage, they buckled down and took control versus their crosstown rival Buccaneers to the tune of a 33-6 victory.
Ryan Majerowski opened the scoring with two first-half sweeps that led to paydirt, while Jeremy Clark pitched in two touchdowns of his own to go with 100 yards rushing. Josh Mead anchored the offensive line, while Jason Burruss and Tyreek Gibson rallied the defense into gang tackling, as well as a decisive third-quarter goal line stand.

The Cheektowaga Thunderbirds opened what appears to be a good season by defeating the Airlanes, 40-0.
The scoring started with DaVonte Cunningham returning the opening kickoff 50 yards for a touchdown. Cunningham also added a 40-yard touchdown catch from quarterback Dominick Welch. T.C. Brown added to the scores by ripping off a 25-yard touchdown run, and actually took a handoff from the opponent and returned it 10 yards for another score.
Tyler Summage and Niahjel Hunley added a couple of catches for PATs as well.
