George E. Romyak, veteran
George E. Romyak, 94, of Cheektowaga, died Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2012.
Mr. Romyak was born in Woodlawn and grew up in Blasdell. He graduated from Blasdell High School, where he played varsity sports, and received his bachelor’s degree in business management from Syracuse University.
He served in the Army Air Corps for a little less than three years and was authorized to wear five battle stars.
Mr. Romyak worked as a product manager at American Optical for 25 years, retiring in 1980.
He was a member of the Infant of Prague bowling league, the George F. Lamm American Legion Post 622, Pvt. Leonard Post Jr. Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6251 and the Happiness is Active Seniors club at Infant of Prague Church.
Mr. Romyak enjoyed traveling to Hawaii, the Canadian Rockies, Las Vegas and Florida in his retirement. He was also a faithful follower of the Buffalo Bills.
He is survived by his wife, Angeline C. (nee Staskiewicz); three daughters, Joan Freeman, Ann Marie Golaszewski and Lauren Redd; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated from Infant of Prague Church on Friday, Feb. 17, with arrangements made by Amigone Funeral Home.
