Cheektowaga Central Middle School will be hosting the district’s first indoor garage and craft sale from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 22, in the school cafeteria, 3600 Union Road.

There are over 40 families registered for the event, and space is filling up fast, according to Assistant Principal Frederick Hahn. The cost is $25 to rent a 14-foot by 10-foot space, and for an additional $5, the space comes with two chairs and a 6-foot table.

“We believe in how important the community is to the school, and since this is all new for us, we hope the event runs smoothly,” Hahn said. “As a district, we are trying to utilize our building in the community, and this is one way to do that. This includes community members without children in our district. We are also looking to grow this event year after year.”

Hahn said that whether it is crafts, promoting small businesses or using this as a platform for the fundraising of clubs and activities, this garage and craft sale offers many options.

“The end of April is very important because of the weather, so we thought this would be the best time to hold this event,” Hahn said. “We are all very excited to be hosting this event, and the support shown from the community has been great.”

The R&R BBQ Food Truck will be available on the site from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and several student clubs will be selling snacks throughout the event, as well. The building will be open from 6 to 9 p.m. on April 21 and starting at 5 a.m. on April 22 for those who are looking to set up their space ahead of time.

All proceeds from space rental will go toward helping fund the eighth-grade class trip to Washington, D.C.

The district asks those who will be attending to use the middle school entrance. According to Hahn, the deadline has passed for renting a space, but depending on how much room is available, accommodations might be made if he gets notified in time.
