Basil Ford to host car cruise for genetic disorder

Basil Ford will host the second annual Cars & Coffee Cruise Show from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 10, at 1540 Walden Ave., just outside the indoor showroom.

There will be free coffee and doughnuts for all who attend, and classic cars will be on display. Additionally, the event will include a 50/50 and basket raffle, an onsite DJ and Babz BBQ food truck.

All proceeds will benefit the Mid-Atlantic Connection for PKU and Allied Disorders Foundation. Phenylketonuria, or PKU, is a rare metabolic genetic disorder in which a baby lacks or has very low levels of the enzyme phenylalanine hydroxylase, which can lead to problems with brain development and function.

There is no cost to register a car or to attend, and the event will take place rain or shine.

Those interested in donating a basket for the raffle or registering a vehicle in the show should contact Shannon Shick at 893-1000.
