Genealogical Fair to be held

The Polish Genealogical Society of New York State will hold its ninth annual Genealogical Fair from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, at St. Gabriel’s Church, 5271 Clinton St., Elma. The fair includes family tree displays, surname searches and research assistance. Genealogical societies participating include the Buffalo Irish Genealogical Society, the Italian Genealogical Society of Western New York, the Western New York Genealogical Society and others. At 1 p.m., Julie Roberts Szczepankiewicz will present “Grandma Said She was from Poznan: An Introduction to Polish Genealogy.”

Church to host vendor fair, barbecue

St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church will hold its second annual vendor and craft fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, at the church, 3512 Clinton St. Tickets are $3. A Weidner’s chicken dinner will also be offered for takeout from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Barbecue tickets are $10 in advance or $11 at the door and include admission to the fair. Cheektowaga Central plans multicultural fair

Cheektowaga Central will host a multicultural fair from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 14, in the Union East Elementary School parking lot, 3550 Union Road. The festival is free and will be geared toward children and their families. It will feature food, entertainment and activities.

Congrega Society plans Mass, breakfast

The Congrega Society of Buffalo will hold a Mass for the devotion to the Blessed Mother under the title of Crowned Virgin at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, at St. Lawrence Parish, 1520 E. Delavan Ave., Buffalo. A free continental breakfast will follow the Mass. For those interested in attending the Mass and breakfast, call Mary Jean Steinhauser at 656-7195.

Zonta seeks vendors for annual fair

The Zonta Cheektowaga-Lancaster Foundation is preparing for its seventh annual vendor event and is looking for additional crafters and vendors. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 29.Contact Barb Zsiros, event chair, at 445-5441 or barbzero4@aol.com.

Chicken barbecue coming to St. Philip’s

St. Philip the Apostle Church, 950 Losson Road, will host a Wendel’s chicken barbecue dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. or sold out on Sunday, Sept. 24. Dinner includes barbecue, potato salad, coleslaw, roll, dessert and beverage. Tickets are $10 in advance or $11 at the door. Call 668-8370, ext. 602.
