NATURE AND ART — Need an excuse to try some wine, craft beer and artisan cheese? The Friends of Reinstein Woods are on the job.

The organization will host Nature’s Gathering 2017 from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, at the Knights of Columbus Father Justin Council No. 5670, 2735 Union Road.

At the nature-themed art sale, attendees can enjoy a sampling of regional wines, craft beer, artisan cheese and hors d’oeuvres while perusing the works of Western New York artisans. Past events have included painters, photographers, woodcarvers, nature-themed jewelry, stationery and specialty items like natural soap and candles. Wine, art and specialty items will be available for purchase during the event.

Tickets are $15 presale or $20 at the door. Tickets can be ordered online at www.reinsteinwoods.org/events or purchased at the Reinstein Woods Environmental Education Center, 93 Honorine Drive, Depew.

FORECLOSURE PREVENTION — The Town of Cheektowaga will hold a foreclosure prevention and financial fitness resource event from 7 to 9 tonight, Thursday, Nov. 9, at the Cheektowaga Senior Center, 3349 Broadway.

At the event, homeowners and renters will have the opportunity to learn the ins and outs of preventing foreclosure, from representatives with the Western New York Law Center and Belmont Housing Resources.

The event will include information on consumer debt issues, the legal aspects of mortgage and tax foreclosures, filing for bankruptcy and tips on avoiding foreclosure rescue scams. Free credit reports will also be available.

The event is free, and refreshments will be served.

SPORTS EQUIPMENT DRIVE — A youth sporting goods drive sponsored by Erie County Legislator Patrick Burke will continue through Wednesday, Nov. 15, at the following Cheektowaga locations:

• Cheektowaga Town Hall — 3301 Broadway.

• Kenneth J. Meyers Town of Cheektowaga Recreation Center, ice rink — 2600 Harlem Road.

• Alexander Community Center — 275 Alexander Ave.

The drive will collect lightly used sports equipment for area children in need.

ON THE CAMPUS — One of our popular features is the campus news. Parents, teachers and the students themselves enjoy sharing the continued success of former Cheektowaga students.

If you, your child, or your grandchild has recently been named to the dean’s list, won an award or scholarship, or graduated from college, we want to list it as an “On the Campus” item. You can email it to bjackson@beenews.com; drop off or mail the information to 5564 Main St., Williamsville, NY 14221; or fax it to 633-8601.

Be aware that space constraints and deadlines mean that all of our campus news may not get published immediately. However, we always make it a priority, but we must receive it before the next semester begins.
