Speaker to emphasize kindness during school visit

Professional speaker and kindness advocate Houston Kraft will visit Lancaster High School and Lancaster Middle School on Monday to encourage students and teachers to practice kindness daily, as they head into the district’s annual Week of Kindness.

Kraft, who has spoken to about 500,000 people thus far at schools, conferences and events in the U.S. and abroad, tells stories from his life and the lives of others to start conversations about developing kind and compassionate people.

He is the co-founder of CharacterStrong, a collection of trainings and curricula aimed at creating more compassionate cultures in schools and communities.

On Monday, Kraft will speak to ninth- and 10th-grade students during two sessions in the morning, one of which will be a leadership breakout session intended to show students how to deliver Kraft’s message beyond Monday.

Leadership students from the Depew School District will join both sessions at the high school.

Kraft will speak to seventh- and eighth-graders at the middle school during two sessions Monday afternoon, also taking time to meet with students afterward.
