Library News

The following events are all scheduled at the Anna M. Reinstein Memorial Library, 2580 Harlem Road, Cheektowaga. For more information on any event, call 892-8089. Note: The library will be closed Monday, Dec. 25, and Monday, Jan. 1.

Buffalo Zoomobile

See live animals at the library at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11. Registration is required.

Y.E.S. Summer Craft

Children ages 6-12 can make a summer craft at the library at 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 13. Registration is required.

Adult Coloring

Create and socialize at the library; tea and supplies will be provided at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 16. Registration is required.

Lego club

Join others who love to build with Legos at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 23. The program is for children in kindergarten through fifth grade. Call or stop by the library to register.

Independent reading and read-to-me

There is no scheduled time to come into the library to participate in these programs. These are independent reading programs. Participants will receive their first reading log upon registering for either of the programs and will receive a new log every week for six weeks once the programs begin. When a child has completed a log, he or she can turn it in at the library to receive a prize. That means there is the potential to receive six different prizes and various incentive coupons.

Tiny Tots Time

Children ages 6-24 months old and their parents can head to the library for lap sit, songs, nursery rhymes, toy time and bubbles. The session runs at 9:15 a.m. Mondays through Aug. 20. Registration is required, and space is extremely limited, so call or stop by to sign up.

Toddler Time

This event is for children 2-31/2 years of age and features stories, songs, felt play, crafts and more. There are two sessions for this event: 10:15 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. Mondays through Aug. 20.

Preschool Story Hour

Children ages 3-5 who enjoy stories, songs, felt play, crafts, videos and more can head to the library for this event. There are two sessions: 10:45 a.m. Thursdays through Aug. 23 and 9:15 a.m. Fridays through Aug. 24. Registration is required, and space is extremely limited.

Paws for Love

Children ages 5-12 can spend a 15-minute reading session with Checkers the dog beginning at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 11. Space is limited and registration is required.

Hooks, Needles and Threads

Come unwind and socialize with some knitting, crocheting and needlework. The event will run from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and Saturday, Aug. 14 and 18. Registration is required, and all levels of experience are welcome. Participants are asked to bring their own supplies if possible.
