Cheektowaga Library News

The following events are all scheduled at the Anna M. Reinstein Memorial Library, 2580 Harlem Road, Cheektowaga. For more information on any event, call 892-8089. Note: The library will be closed Tuesday, Dec. 25, and Tuesday, Jan. 1.

Adult Coloring

Create and socialize at the library; tea and supplies will be provided at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11. Registration is required.

Crochet Corner

Those interested in learning to crochet, combine basic stitches to create patterns, or learn to read patterns can stop by the library from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13. Registration is required. This event is for adults who are encouraged to bring their own supplies.

The Pumpkin Patch

A fall fun program for children of all ages will take place at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, and each child will receive his or her own pumpkin. Registration is required.

Visit the therapy dog

Furry friends will be in the Cozy Corner in the children’s area of the library from 1 - 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20. All dogs are certified therapy dogs. Stop by to read to a dog or just for a pet and a hug.

Kindergarten Readiness

This program is for parents of preschool children who will be starting kindergarten in 2019 or 2020. Speakers include an early childhood education professor from Daemen College and an EPIC facilitator. They will speak about childhood development and how you can help your child succeed, and there will be exercises to help you teach your child. The event will run from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 22. Call or stop by the library to sign up.

Tiny Tots Time

Children ages 6-24 months and their parents can head to the library for lapsit, songs, nursery rhymes, toy time and bubbles. The session runs at 10:15 a.m. Mondays through Nov. 19. Registration is required, and space is extremely limited, so call or stop by to sign up.

Toddler Time

This event is for children 2-31/2 years of age and features stories, songs, felt play, crafts and more. This event will be at 11:15 a.m. Tuesdays through Nov. 13.

Preschool Story Hour

Children ages 3-5 who enjoy stories, songs, felt play, crafts and more can head to the library for this event. This session has a bugs theme and will take place at 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Nov. 13. Registration is required.

Paws for Love

Children ages 5-12 can sign up for a 15-minute reading session with a therapy dog. Sessions are from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13. Space is limited, and registration is required.

Lego Explorers’ Club with Miss Melissa

Children in kindergarten through fifth grade who like to explore and build can come to the library from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, for the Lego Explorers’ Club. Call or stop by the library to sign up.
