Friends of Reinstein Woods Events

The following events are scheduled at the Reinstein Woods Nature Preserve, 93 Honorine Drive, Depew, unless otherwise noted. For more information or to register for a specific event, call 683-5959.

Trailside Art

Create ephemeral art inspired by artist Andy Goldsworthy along the trails and ponds of Reinstein Woods at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 13. Registration is required.

Birding 101: Class No. 10

Learn which birds will be in the area for the winter season at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13. This event is for adults and children ages 8 and older, and registration is required.

Senior Stroll

Experience nature at your own pace and enjoy a leisurely guided walk through the woods at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17. This event is for adults only, and registration is required.

Evening Forest Bathing

Enjoy an introduction to this popular health trend with a walk that focuses on the sights, sounds and smells of the forest to induce relaxation while easing anxiety and stress at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17. Registration is required.

Dare to Repair Cafe

Bring broken items such as lamps, furniture and clothes, to the repair cafe to have volunteer “fixers” try to repair them for free from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20. This event is designed to reduce waste going into landfills while building community.

Full Moon Walk

Search for nocturnal animals and seasonal constellations during the full moon at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24. Registration is required.

Creepy Critters

Come have fun learning about bats and owls through stories, activities and crafts at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 27. This event is for children ages 3 to 7, and registration is required.

Stories in the Woods

Enjoy hearing a nature story followed by a guided walk in the woods for children ages 3 to 7. Registration is required.

Woods Walk: Nature Guide’s Choice

Join a guided nature walk through the woods at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 3. Registration is not required.

Natural Products Workshop

Learn how to make natural cleaning and beauty products for yourself or to gift to others, at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 10. Participants will make a natural cleaner or a lip balm to take home. The fee for materials is $7, or $5 for Friends of Reinstein Woods members. Registration is required.

Nature’s Gathering

Sample regional wines and hors d’oeuvres as you help support friends of Reinstein Woods. Western New York artisans will be showcasing their nature-themed artwork and specialty items, all available for purchase. This event will take place at Buffalo Iron Works, 49 Illinois St., Buffalo. Wild Wednesday

Together, children and their parents or caregivers can enjoy a different, hour-long outdoor activity from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14. This event is for children in kindergarten through fifth grade, and registration is not required.
