St. Mary’s represented at Ladies of Charity assembly

Nine members of the Ladies of Charity, as well as three members of the Junior Ladies of Charity, were among more than 400 participants at the Ladies of Charity of the United States National Assembly held Sept. 20 to 22 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

The 12 girls belong to the Lancaster chapter at St. Mary of the Assumption Parish.

Members served in numerous service projects throughout the year, including volunteering at the Ladies of Charity Thrift Store in Buffalo, working in the organization’s Fresh Start Program to assist victims of domestic violence and other personal tragedies, filling backpacks for school children in need, and assembling layette programs for newborns.

Young women in grades 6 through 12 are invited to join the St. Mary’s Junior Ladies of Charity. The group meets monthly and takes part in various volunteer and community service projects.
