Art Guild seeks new members

The Cheektowaga Art Guild is looking for residents who enjoy the arts to join the organization. Meetings take place at 7 p.m. on the second Thursday of each month at the Kenneth J. Meyers Town of Cheektowaga Recreation Center, 2600 Harlem Road. Meetings are upstairs.

JFK Craft Show looks for vendors

The annual John F. Kennedy High School Craft Show will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, at the school, 305 Cayuga Creek Road. Admission to the event is $1. Table spaces for vendors are still available and can be reserved by contacting Casey Snyder at csnyder@csufsd.org.

Conference to focus on family engagement

Every Person Influences Children and the Parent Network of WNY will hold the second annual WNY Family Engagement Conference on Thursday, Nov. 29, at Grapevine Banquets, 333 Dick Road. This conference will support those who strive for excellence in family school-community partnerships. Tickets are $100 for preregistration, and include morning and afternoon snacks and lunch. Chorale to hold open auditions

The Cheektowaga Chorale is seeking new members; all types of voices are welcome. Bass and tenor voices are particularly needed, and participants need not be residents of Cheektowaga. The upcoming concert will take place on Friday, Dec. 7. Rehearsals will take place from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesdays at the Cleveland Heights Christian Church, 4774 Union Road. Men’s Bible study scheduled

St. Mary of the Assumption Church will offer a men’s Bible study group, called Helping Each Other Revive Discipleship, from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturdays, Oct. 20, Nov. 3 and 17, and Dec. 15, in Room 140 at the St. Mary’s Elementary School building, 2 St. Mary’s Hill, Lancaster. Spaghetti dinner to feature raffle

Maryvale Drive Presbyterian Church will host an all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner and theme tray raffle from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, at 425 Maryvale Dr. Tickets are $10 for adults, $9 for seniors, $6 for children ages 4 to 10 and free for children 3 and younger. Eat-in and takeout available.

Craft show slated by garden club

The Eighth District of the Federated Garden Clubs of New York will have a vendor and craft show from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20 at the VFW Leonard Post 6251, at 2450 Walden Ave. More than 35 vendors will be in attendance. The event will include a cash raffle and proceeds from the show will support the organization’s scholarship fund and community activities.

Town sets trick-or-treating hours

Trick-or-treating in Cheektowaga will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Halloween night, Wednesday, Oct. 31. The town council is asking parents of young children to accompany them as they collect candy and that residents keep porch lights on to keep everyone safe.
