Tree-lighting to spark Santa’s arrival at Walden Galleria

Walden Galleria will be welcoming Santa Claus with its second annual tree-lighting ceremony from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9. The event is sponsored by Toys for Tots.

Standing at 25 feet tall, the majestic tree is the largest to be displayed in the area’s only super regional mall in more than a decade. Decorated with red and gold ornaments and more than 2,500 lights, the tree will be located near the Apple store adjacent to the Santa Set.

Guests are invited to come out for the free event, which will feature holiday music, giveaways, light refreshments from Tim Hortons and Mrs. Fields, and the opportunity to design a holiday mug.

Balloon artists and other popular holiday characters will also be in attendance for a meet and greet.

Parents are encouraged to wear an ugly Christmas sweater for a chance to win a $100 Melting Pot gift card. Guests who bring a toy donation for Toys for Tots valued at $10 or more will receive a special offer for their Santa photo package.

“We invite all guests and visitors for a special holiday event to welcome Santa to Walden Galleria,” said Alex Corbelli, the mall’s marketing director. “With the addition of our brand-new 25-foot Christmas tree, we’re ready to kick off the most wonderful time of the year.”

Santa will be available for photos from 5 to 8 p.m. the day of the event.
