Tree-lighting event to include carols

The third annual Town of Cheektowaga Christmas tree-lighting event will take place at 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 26, at Cheektowaga Town Hall, 3301 Broadway. The Cheektowaga-Sloan School District Chorus will sing Christmas carols on the steps of Town Hall, followed by hot chocolate, cider, face painting and a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus in a mini fire truck and ATV parade at the Cheektowaga Senior Center. The Cheektowaga Historical Museum and Caboose will also be open for tours.

Conference to focus on family engagement

Every Person Influences Children and the Parent Network of WNY will hold the second annual WNY Family Engagement Conference on Thursday, Nov. 29, at Grapevine Banquets, 333 Dick Road. This conference will support those who strive for excellence in family school-community partnerships. Tickets cost $150 and include snacks and lunch. Chorale to hold open auditions

The Cheektowaga Chorale is seeking new members; all types of voices are welcome. Bass and tenor voices are particularly needed, and participants need not be residents of Cheektowaga. The upcoming concert will take place on Friday, Dec. 7. Rehearsals will take place from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesdays at the Cleveland Heights Christian Church, 4774 Union Road. Men’s Bible study group scheduled

St. Mary of the Assumption Church will offer a men’s Bible study group, called “Helping Each Other Revive Discipleship,” from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturdays, Nov. 17, and Dec. 15, in Room 140 at the St. Mary’s Elementary School building, 2 St. Mary’s Hill, Lancaster. Veterans Day celebration planned

The Town of Cheektowaga Veterans Affairs Committee will sponsor a ceremony to recognize Veterans Day at 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, in Cheektowaga Town Park. Refreshments will be served immediately following in the Town of Cheektowaga Ice Rink Conference Center. The event is being held in memory of Roger Heymanowski, a member of the committee.

Art Guild seeks new members

The Cheektowaga Art Guild is looking for residents who enjoy the arts to join the organization. Meetings take place at 7 p.m. the second Thursday of each month at the Kenneth J.
